Redondo Beach Pier & Marina

The Redondo piers as seen in 1919. In the foreground are the remains of Wharf 1 which was destroyed by the pounding of Pacific storm waters. Historically there have been seven piers—built, rebuilt, destroyed and dismantled in the last 100 hundred years. Today, the pier is still a popular destination place for locals and visitors, providing venues for sport fishing, as well as dining, shopping and entertainment. For more information on activities at the Pier/King Harbor area, click here .

Redondo Beach Marina

Nighttime you'll find it's the place for twilight fishing, spectacular sunsets, delicious dinners, exciting entertainment and dancing on the water's edge. When it comes to dining, recreation, or perhaps just a walk in the cool ocean breeze.

Today the Redondo Beach Pier and International Boardwalk are a family destination featuring over 50 dining, entertainment and shopping choices and within walking distance to beautiful seaside accommodations.

Who owns and maintains the land west of Harbor Drive?

The City of Redondo Beach owns all of the land west of Harbor Drive from the border with Hermosa Beach on the north to the Redondo Beach Pier (roughly Torrance Blvd.) on the south. The City also owns the parcel at the northeast corner of Harbor Drive and Beryl Street (where the Sunrise Hotel is located). While the City owns the land, the City is not necessarily responsible for leasing or maintaining all of this land. Much of the land is ground leased (the City is only responsible for the ground) to private entities on a long term basis. For a graphical representation, visit the Harbor Department's Maps page or call us at 310-318-0631.

Can I feed birds such as pigeons and seagulls on the Redondo Beach Pier?

While nothing specifically addresses this activity in the Municipal Code, one can be cited for littering if such a burden is caused to the City's Maintenance crews. You may want to contact the Police Department for more information. In any event, we prefer that the "feeding" of birds occur away from restaurants and take-out businesses. Birds can cause quite a mess, and have been known to snatch food off of one's plate. Therefore, we ask that you be kind to eateries and their patrons by feeding birds in an open portion of the Pier.

Can I play music on the Redondo Beach Pier?

There are two ways to legally play music on the Redondo Beach Pier. In the summertime, the Redondo Pier Association sponsors FREE concerts on Thursday and Saturday evenings. The concerts generally run from 6pm to 8pm during the months of July and August. A schedule of performers can be viewed on the Harbor Department's Events page .

For less organized acts, one can obtain a Pier Entertainer's Permit from the City's Harbor Department to play at certain points along the Pier and Avenue of the Arts and Crafts. This is a popular question since sand has returned to the inside of the Pier. Because there is no lifeguard, however, swimming or wading is not permitted in this area.
